'Journey to the Center of a Triangle' (1976) 8m, dir. Bruce & Katharine Cornwell. Another fabulous film by the Cornwells, created on the Tektronics 4051 Graphics Terminal. Presents a series of animated constructions that determine the center of a variety of triangles, including such centers as circumcenter, incenter, centroid and orthocenter. The music is Bach's preludes 8 (Eb minor) and 12 (F minor) from the Well Tempered Clavier. More on the Cornwells at http://www.afana.org/cornwell.htm...

Description : The Gee family of Sacramento was your typical nuclear family living in Suburbia. Mom. Dad. Son. Daughter. Occasionally a pet fish. Dad worked for the government (it IS Sacramento after all), Mom worked as a nurse at UC Davis. Son and Daughter studied hard, took piano lessons, enjoyed summer break playing in the back yard. Being a tech geek (in the 1970s), Dad bought a movie camera and was able to document our lives. The treat of the year was our summer vacations, where we’d all...

Though this sex education film concentrates on presenting the anatomy and physiology of human reproduction in sober medical terms, its release kicked off a controversy in many American cities and towns over the legitimacy of sex education in the public schools. The film is narrated from the point of view of an adult who tries to decide how to answer his son's natural questions about sex and reproduction. With excellent diagrams of the reproductive process.

This episode of Bits and Bytes is about using the computer to help teach things — what's called Computer Assisted Instruction, or CAI for short. To understand what CAI is all about, we're going to go on an excursion into two related fields: programmed instruction and Artificial Intelligence. Bits and Bytes was a Canadian television series, produced by TVOntario in 1983. It starred Luba Goy as the instructor, and Billy Van as the student. For more information, see...

Virtual reality started out as a science fiction concept in the early 1950s. Now, VR has become a kind of holy grail - lots of promises and claims, few results delivered. This program looks at the state of virtual reality. Demonstrations include the Talking Glove, AutoDesk's Cyberspace project, the Virtual Hand, GestureGlove, CyberGlove, CyberCAD, Virtus Corporation's WalkThrough. Also a visit to the Virtual Reality Showcase at the Software Development Conference in Santa Clara, California....

This film was found in the basement of a vacating business in Rochester, New York in 2004. The decomposition of the emulsion, combined with the vivid color and movements of the carnival rides, creates a beautiful film reminiscent of the work of filmmakers Peter Delpeut and Bill Morrison. Also available on the DVD "Living Room Cinema: Films From Home Movie Day, Vol. I"

In July 1956, the five-member Barstow family of Wethersfield, Connecticut, won a free trip to newly-opened Disneyland in Anaheim, California, in a nationwide contest. This 30-minute amateur documentary film tells the fabulous story of their fun-filled, dream-come-true, family travel adventure, filmed on the scene at Walt Disney's "Magic Kingdom" by Robbins Barstow. In December 2008, "Disneyland Dream" was named to the National Film Registry by the Librarian of Congress. In a...
